I (29F) have been married to my husband (34M) for 3 years.
Up until recently… everything was normal.
Or at least I thought it was.
About two months ago, he started getting weirdly protective.
At first, it felt sweet.
“Text me when you get there.”
“Call me when you leave.”
Normal stuff.
But then it changed.
He started insisting I stay home more.
Saying things like:
“You don’t need to go out today.”
“I’ll handle everything.”
“It’s safer if you just stay in.”
I laughed it off at first.
Until one day, I tried to go visit my friend.
And he blocked the door.
Not aggressively.
Just stood there.
Smiling.
And said:
“Why don’t you just stay today?”
Something about the way he said it made my chest tighten.
After that, things escalated.
He started working from home.
Watching me more.
Asking where I was, even when I was in the same house.
Then last week, I found out something I wasn’t supposed to see.
I was using his laptop when a notification popped up.
A camera feed.
From inside our house.
Confused, I clicked it.
And my stomach dropped.
It was a live recording.
Of our living room.
I started checking.
There were more.
Bedroom.
Kitchen.
Hallway.
Every room had a camera.

Hidden.
I felt sick.
Not just because of the cameras.
But because I realized…
He wasn’t trying to keep me inside for my safety.
He was trying to make sure I didn’t see something.
So I did something I never thought I’d do.
I stayed home.
Pretended everything was normal.
And I set up my own recorder.
That night, around 2AM, he got out of bed.
Quietly.
Carefully.
Like he didn’t want to wake me.
I waited a few minutes, then followed him.
He didn’t go downstairs.
He went to the storage room.
The one he always keeps locked.
And for the first time…
He left it slightly open.
I don’t know what made me do it.
But I looked inside.
And what I saw…
Didn’t make sense.
There were boxes.
Stacked everywhere.
All labeled.
With dates.
And names.
My name…
was on at least six of them.
I haven’t opened them yet.
I haven’t confronted him.
But now I understand why he didn’t want me leaving.
Because whatever he’s hiding…
It’s been happening for a long time.
And I think…
I was never supposed to find out.
So AITA for wanting to go through those boxes while he’s gone?
Or should I just leave… before I find something I can’t unsee?
