After my wife’s C-section, we had agreed on a strict “no visitors” rule for the day of our son’s birth so she could recover and we could bond as a new family. Despite knowing this, my MIL showed up at the hospital uninvited and expected to be let in. I asked her to leave and come back the next day, which led to backlash from my in-laws and a heated family conflict over whether I was wrong for enforcing the boundary.
