AITA For Trying To Warn My Friend About A Wardrobe Malfunction And Getting Called Creepy?

I (26F) have been out since I was a teenager, and for the most part it’s never been an issue. But there’s one girl in our group who’s always made things a bit uncomfortable. Not openly rude, just small comments like not wanting to change around me or joking that I “notice too much.” I’ve always ignored it.

Last weekend, a group of us went to a pool party at a friend’s house. Before heading outside, we were all in a bedroom getting changed, just talking and getting ready.

While I was grabbing my towel, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye that didn’t look right. At first I thought her swimsuit was just twisted or caught on something.

Then I realized it had shifted in a way that would’ve been really noticeable if she walked out like that.

I didn’t want to embarrass her, so I went over quietly and said, “Hey, just a heads up, your bikini moved a bit.”

Instead of just fixing it, she immediately turned around and said, “Why are you even looking there?”

I was caught off guard and told her I wasn’t trying to, I just noticed and didn’t want her to walk out like that.

But she got louder and started calling me “creepy,” saying I was staring at her.

The whole room went silent, and everyone just looked at me.

I didn’t even argue. I just laughed it off awkwardly and walked out because I didn’t want to make a bigger scene.

A few minutes later, the host came out and asked what happened. I explained, and she just rolled her eyes and told me not to worry about it.

I thought that was the end of it.

But later that night, I started getting messages saying I made her uncomfortable and that I shouldn’t be “looking at people like that.”

Apparently she told people I had been staring for a while before saying anything, which isn’t true.

Now some people are acting weird toward me, and I’m being told I should be “more careful.”

I honestly don’t know what I was supposed to do differently. If I hadn’t said anything, she would’ve walked out in front of everyone like that.

So… AITA?

EDIT:

For clarity — it wasn’t just slightly off. It had shifted enough that it would’ve been obvious to other people, which is why I felt like I had to say something.

Also, after talking to a few friends, it turns out she told a very different version of the story, saying I was staring for a while before saying anything. That’s not what happened.

Some people have since apologized, but I’ve decided to distance myself from her. This isn’t the first time she’s made things uncomfortable, just the most dramatic.

At this point, I’d rather just avoid the situation altogether.
