I (23F) have been with my boyfriend (26M) for almost 2 years. He’s always been… normal. Calm. Loving. Nothing weird.
Until about a month ago.
He started waking up exhausted every morning. Not just tired — drained. Like he hadn’t slept at all. At first, we blamed stress.
But then I noticed something strange.
Every night around 3AM… he would start talking in his sleep.
Not random mumbling — actual conversations.
Full sentences. Pauses. Like he was responding to someone.
The first time I heard it clearly, he said:
“Stop… you weren’t supposed to come back.”
I froze.
The next morning, I asked him.
He laughed it off. Said I was imagining things.
But I wasn’t.
So one night, I decided to record him.
At exactly 3:17AM… it started again.
But this time… I heard something that made my stomach drop.
He said:
“I didn’t tell her… she doesn’t know what happened that night.”
There was silence for a few seconds.
Then—
He whispered:
“I buried it. Just like you told me.”
I swear I stopped breathing.
Because here’s the thing…
Two weeks before this started, he took me to his childhood home.
And casually mentioned that his younger sister had “died years ago.”
No details. Just that.
I didn’t think much of it back then.
But after hearing that recording… I did something I probably shouldn’t have.
I searched his house when he wasn’t home.
In his old room… I found a locked drawer.
Inside it… were dozens of printed photos.
Of him.
Standing in the backyard.
Next to… someone.
A girl.
Same face in every photo.
But scratched out.
Every single one.
And written on the back of one picture:
“She doesn’t forgive you.”
I haven’t told him I know.
I haven’t played the recording.
I don’t even know if I’m overthinking this or if something is seriously wrong.
But now every night at 3AM… I wake up before him.
And I just listen.
Waiting.
Because part of me is terrified…
That one day, I’ll hear a second voice.
