I usually advise to steer clear of ground dwelling culinary mushrooms (brown, button, Portobello) due to the fact they grow in wet mouldy conditions and increase dampness and candida in the gut. Medicinal mushrooms however are grown on trees and are an entirely different classification of fungi. They support the immune system, enhance cogitative function and give our adrenals the warm hugs they need.
(As medicinal mushrooms are a growing trend please make sure you do your research on the companies, where the mushrooms are sourced and the extraction process).
1 cup milk of your choice
1 tbsp raw cacao
¼ - 1 tsp of your favourite medicinal mushroom (I like Mason’s Mushrooms from Superfeast)
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp ground cardamom
¼ tsp chilli (optional)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp MCT or coconut oil
1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup
- Add all ingredients except sweetener to a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Whisk to combine, heat and make frothy.
- Transfer to mug and stir through sweetener.
