Chia Banana Porridge

Chia seeds are a wonderful super food rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, which help lower inflammation in the body. 

They are high in calcium and are a great source of fibre and protein. With their ability to hold 9 times their weight in water, chia seeds prolong hydration and retain electrolytes in the body, especially during exertion or exercise. 

Ingredients

½ cup of oats
1 tbsp of chia seeds
1 cup water
½ banana, sliced or diced
½ tsp of cinnamon
5 brazil nuts, roughly chopped
2 tbsp of coconut milk (optional)
1 tsp of raw honey (if needed) 

Method

  1. Bring water to the boil. Add all ingredients except coconut milk and honey. Stir for approximately 5 minutes, or until a smooth, creamy consistency is reached.
  2. Transfer to bowl, stir through coconut milk and honey and sprinkle with extra cinnamon.
